Lemonade For Dieting?
Fad diets have gained the interest of many dieters nowadays. This is because their promises of a successful diet result. Examples of these diet are the South Beach diet, 3-day diet and Low carb diet. But did you know what fad diet means? It is a diet that has quickly gained popularity and loses it right away.
Stanley Burroughs during the 1970s has proposed a diet called Lemonade Diet. This diet is a short detoxification diet which cleanses your digestive system and burns excess fats as well. This diet is also known to be a cleansing diet because it only allows lemonade throughout the diet. It lasts for 10 days and a break lasting for 3 months before going back to the diet again.
The lemonade that you will be consuming while in the diet should consist of 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 1/6 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. It is important that you have 12 glasses of this special blend of lemonade in a day because it will give your body about 1200 calories per day.
Aside from the lemonade, you are only allowed to take water or peppermint tea to prevent dehydration. This diet starts with a flush of salt water taken during morning then the lemonade throughout the day and ends with a glass of laxative tea. The lemonade is the only source of energy that you can have all through the day. When going back to your usual diet, you should go through the whole process until the end so that your body could adjust slowly from a liquid diet to a solid one.
Remember that this diet is recommended for detoxification purposes only and not a weight loss plan. It is inappropriate for children and if used longer may result to more stored fats and some problems with health. While in this diet, headaches and nausea may be experienced because it is like a fasting regimen. Taking this diet should be under the supervision of a professional and if harsh symptoms persist, diet should be ended right away.
The lemonade diet should be taken as a detox routine and not as a diet plan. If weight loss is experienced during the diet, it will easily be gained back if the diet is not carefully followed.
