Why Your Last Diet Didn’t Work
The dieting industry is huge and there are more diets on the market than you can shake a stick at. You have even tried one or more of these diets and they simply did not work. You lost some weight and gained it back. Most often you gained back more than you lost! I would like to answer the question why your last diet didn’t work.
You last diet and others before it didn’t work for what could be many reasons. Let’s just put aside the possibility that you simply did not stick with the diet. It probably wouldn’t have mattered if you did stick with it because most of the popular diets are not designed for lasting results. The reason why your last diet didn’t work is because you most likely chose the wrong type of diet.
Most diets fall in six categories. The first five are not safe, do not work for most people in the long term and will leave you feeling disappointed.
Low Carb, High Protein Diets
You have probably tried at least one maybe more of these low carb diets. Low carb diets work largely by reducing water weight. They are also very strict and difficult to sustain. You will start eating carbs again sooner or later and gain back any weight you lost. You will also experience side effects from a low carb diet such as headaches, irritability and difficulty sleeping. All of these make for a miserable experience and thus you will not continue with the diet for long.
Low Fat Diets
Most of the low fat foods that you find are full of empty calories and sugars to improve the taste of the food. These diets actually will cause you to gain weight rather than lose weight. When you remove the naturally occurring fats from a food it doesn’t taste as good. To get you to buy the food it must taste good so sugars and other empty calories are added to replace the fat. You would have been better off eating regular foods in most cases.
Starvation Diets
Your body and mind needs fuel to function. That fuel comes from the food you eat. Starvation diets are unhealthy, dangerous and down right crazy. In this same category are the diets that tell you to drink only liquids or other crazy stuff. If it sounds painful, unhealthy or crazy it most likely is. Just avoid any starvation or crazy diets.
Pre-packaged Food Diets
Can you say processed foods? You just as well eat a pizza or a burger. These diets are also extremely expensive costing around $500 for just one month of food for one person. You can buy groceries for your whole family for less than that.
Hollywood Diets
This category is similar to the starvation diets. Most of them want you to drink some kind of liquid or other potion. The Hollywood diets can pretty much be categorized as crazy. Remember avoid the crazy.
The Sixth Diet Category – Healthy, Sensible Eating
Yes you saw the right, healthy, sensible eating is the one type of diet that will actually work. With this diet you will not suffer side effects, risk your health or feel like you are starving to death. This diet is not painful, expensive or difficult to follow. You simply replace the harmful, unhealthy foods you are eating now with healthy foods in sensible portions.
What I am really say about healthy eating is that you simply need to make a few lifestyle changes. It is not a painful or dangerous process. Combine your healthy eating plan with a sensible exercise plan and you will see not only quick weight loss results but lasting results and an end to the yo-yo dieting game.
